Back Again… less coherent that ever

My last blog post was serious so today I thought I’d take a spin in the other direction. Emily in Paris, season 3, is back for another round of unapologetically ridiculous storylines, which seem more like snippets of dialogue, over-the-top outfits, and hot love interests. After a successful season one and two, Netflix ordered two more of the Darren Star-created series, meaning we’re getting a lot more Emily and a lot more Paris over the next few years.

Thank goodness it will end with season 4!

I didn’t watch the entire third season it was just too stupid. There’s always a simple problem or obstacle that only Emily can solve. Basic Gen Z thinking. There is more music and the rest of the time I surfed for any hint of plot or storyline but there wasn’t one. The only thing I can say is that while I watched it was the equivalent to a couture fashion show, a visual fantasy. So if you’re looking to enhance your mind, go elsewhere.

Emily does begin to dress better and looks more Parisian. Some of the other women also have great wardrobes, but for the sake of this blog, I’m only pointing out a few of Emily’s key looks. My biggest complaint is why Zara doesn’t copy these now for all the young girls that would want to wear them. I for one would wear Sophie’s (who is my age) clothes in a heartbeat.

The originals are costly. Below is a range of looks that capsulate my favorites along with an explanation of why I like them. Fashion was the only redeeming element of an otherwise flat show.

This office look is fabulous. It's simple and chic. I love the knit jacket in yellow with blue. Just look at those rhinestone buttons and the feather trim- wear this and you won't look like anybody else, guaranteed!

A lunch date. You can never go wrong with a small polka dot. It's less obvious than a floral and a wonderful summer alternative. A dress in turquoise with a hint of skin. And those two-toned sunglasses finished off the look.

Smart & Sleek Black. An ensemble that has fun and flair without being dowdy. A mini with exaggerated shoulders, white pleated cuffs, and big gold decorative buttons make it ideal for a 20-something.

For Romping around the weekend. Bright orange with metallic blue boots. Young girls should never shy away from color. Just look at those ruffles they scream, I'm out to have fun and be playful! Absolutely Adorable.

A party look. When I saw this I yelled out Wow! A mini strapless dress with a dramatic purple wrap on top. It's playful, eclectic, and vibrant, and everything is a little bit over the top — in the best possible way.

A rainy day with a big dose of sunshine. Yellow symbolizes her innocence. Look at that eyelet turtleneck and those platform heels with those cute socks. And what girl doesn't need a bandana? Note the bag with neutral colors is a true statement piece- something to have for years to come. Exquisite.

Now don't misunderstand me I don't want to dress as Emily does. But I do embrace uniqueness, and I believe young and middle-aged women should wear what makes them happy.

I think part of the problem with the way people dress nowadays is that it’s too generic. Everyone looks the same, they wear the same things. They wear what’s in fashion, what’s trendy, and what they’re being told to wear. That’s terribly dull. The fashion in this season had personality. Kudos to Head Costumer Marilyn Fitoussi who did a fantastic job of doing just that.

Yes, it's not the same, without an actual book.I am reading "I Said Yes to Everything"by Lee Grant, which I found at Goodwill Glendale,$2.99...It came out in 2014 & sounded good, but never came across it. It's more interesting because I got a good deal.

PS will start S1 of Emily in Paris, after your piece. Thanks,Linda, always enlightening!
