Keeping in the spirit of summer I recently spent an evening at the iconic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. https://www.thehollywoodroosevelt.com/ This hidden oasis in the heart of Hollywood is an absolute must-visit attraction for any traveler exploring the city. From its timeless charm to its impeccable service, it’s no wonder why it’s on every Los Angeles travel guide. I sat in the lounge sipping my Bitters & Soda, a non-alcoholic drink I learned about from watching Succession.

Because I have been in shopping mode (which has now come to a halt) I placed my online order from Zara’s for the annual sale. I settled on one royal blue ensemble that makes me think of the film Gilda, it's got a classy retro vibe. The next day I was off to Santee Alley, for sunglasses, a place I won’t go to again, and in the words of Bette Davis:
Later on a jaunt into Little Tokyo enjoying sashimi with a gentleman who loves to dine with me and is open to new experiences.
We also made a trip to Eataly in Century City https://www.eataly.com/us_en/stores/los-angeles which wasn’t anywhere as interesting as the one I visited in Chicago.

Next on the agenda was a trip to El Cholo DTLA to enjoy my favorite, a seasonal green chili, and sweet corn tamale.
All that eating called for a hike at Silver Lake’s iconic stairs which remind me of San Francisco where my quads and calves were sore for two days. It felt great to get the heart pumping! It was followed by brunch at Los Feliz’s Guest House with avocado toast and my first espresso martini, which isn’t a martini at all but tastes more like a coffee milkshake. I absolutely loved it!

On a learning curve, I’ll say “we” went to the Maya Exhibit at the California Science Center https://californiasciencecenter.org/exhibits/maya-the-exhibition. It’s interesting that the website mentions the language but I never found out how many people speak it today. I imagine it’s becoming extinct, so what if anything is being done to preserve it? As a museum attendee, I always have so many questions. I need a docent to talk to so I shot off an email. A drive past the mesmerizing blend of Rodeo Drive’s allure with European vibrant energy, and off to Javier’s Restaurant https://www.javiers-cantina.com/century-city which was absolutely stunning!
Make sure you click on all the links to see the images.
I’m sharing a Motown classic and although the lyrics aren’t for me the rhythm is phenomenal, and I can’t listen to it without breaking into a dance.
What have your summer vibes entailed? Does anyone want to share their travels? Post them here and do not email them. Thank you.
Such interesting sites! Always wondered what Roosevelt was like.Hope the Gilda era, royal blue number, is seen alot in 40's era work! Good news about El Cholo, and all the others mentioned! Just what I needed, and Heat Wave, perked me up! Thanks for this on a stifling day...lets me know life is only 13 miles away! You live right, Linda!!
